August 15, 2019 - Dearly Declared Retires

X-rays taken recently on Dearly Declared’s front knees revealed a long hairline fracture of the third carpel bone of the right front knee. Unfortunately, while she could recover from this injury and go back into training in a few months, Barclay and Robin are doubtful that with the arthritis in her knees she could withstand the rigors of the training that would be necessary to prepare her for a race.

As a result, the decision has been made to retire her. He retirement plans have been finalized and she will return to Joanne Nielsen's Sunnyfield Farm which consists of 240 acres near Bedford, New York. She was Bred at Sunnyfield Farm and will join its small band of broodmares. Joanne Nielsen is a highly respected breeder who serves on the Board of Directors of New York Thoroughbred Breeders.

Following several weeks of rehab for her knee injury, Dearly Declared will return to her birthplace and begin her broodmare career in 2020.
